Overview
Field service providers working with underground pipe-cleaning vehicles needed a mobile-friendly tool to manage and log technical data during nozzle fittings.
The tool needed to allow users to:
-
Filter and view vehicle/company/service records
-
Update and add truck and company data
-
Enter multiple test values across several pressure parameters
-
Access step-by-step preparation guides for tests
-
Export all data as a clean PDF and send it to multiple recipients
-
All of this with potential spotty / bad mobile connection
User Flow

Understanding that the users are technicians working in tough outdoor conditions, I made key design decisions to support their actual needs in the field:
Since the tool would be used on mobile devices in challenging environments, I prioritized clarity, simplicity, and ease of navigation. The interface avoids clutter and minimizes the number of taps needed to complete repetitive tasks, such as entering RPM values across different pressure scenarios.
To make returning to jobs faster, I included filtering options by company, vehicle, and service date, so technicians could find records quickly without unnecessary searching.
I paid close attention to how repetitive data (like four sets of RPM values per test) would be entered. The layout and flow guide users through entries in a logical, minimal-effort way, supporting both accuracy and speed.
Finally, I included PDF export functionality that allows users to send completed reports directly to multiple recipients — a small feature that closes the loop between on-site work and client communication.
High-Fidelity Prototypes

Considering all feedback, I created a high-fidelity prototype with attention to field usability and clarity. I walked the team through it in a final short hand-off meeting, and later addressed a small follow-up request within minutes.
This was my second project with Simon and Tobias, and the fast, collaborative workflow made it both efficient and enjoyable.
